This mat is very thin, but it has a lot of traction. The mat does not slip across the floor, and I don’t slip across the mat. The only draw back is little cushion due to being thin.

  2. Brian

Product is lightweight, performs well, grips well, perfect!

This is the best travel mat so far I used. It is worth paying that money. It is light and has a great grip. However, when sweating, I felt that my hand was sliding a bit. The mat itself stayed on the floor firmly.
The only thing one would need to compromise is the thinness. I felt that my knees would want more cushion feeling. But again the weight of the mat is great, so I used thick socks as padding for my knees.
The smell is a little bit there, but it goes away with time, also if a mat spray is used. I guess this is quite natural for every synthetic product.
I wish they had like a thing bag or extra grips to use when the mat is folded.

I tried MANY before this in hunt for the perfect travel mat. Believe me i didn’t want to pay for this ha.. Every foldable mat was too thick, too cheap, too stinky, or too slippery.

I sucked it up and finally bought this. From the moment I unwrapped it I understood; you get what you pay for.

While the mat is thin for travel purposes, it’s durable. Incredibly so. It can roll or fold. Can be wiped. Not sticky with proper care. Smells like rubber but not a toxic smell. Feels very grounded to flow on, unlike the other foldables. Fits nicely folded in my travel bag but I roll it when at home. When it unfolds the creases don’t last. The color is nice, blends in with surroundings, not too obnoxious.

This is a thin mat. Any thick ones (of quality) are a kilo heavier. I add a towel or blanket to my practice, always, and place it at my knees for lunges. Because of this it’s no problem. Without padding it would be painful for me.

I have the purple though if the Navy were in stock I’d have bought it!

    REAL RUBBER.
I have had my first same brand 3mm rubber yoga mat somewhat 10 years, with loving care, it still serves well. I am expecting same quality and longivity from mt new 3mm rubber yoga mats.
    Ordered 2 this time.
I have different thicknessess and different brands for different usage.
I want ULTRA THIN mat, that does not slide and slip, nor buckle around. If you want cushiuning, this one is REALLY THIN, non cushioning, perfectly firm.
I like the 71″ length, and the width is good also.
No this is not cheap, because this is HIGH QUALITY LONG LASTING COMPANNION.
    Rolls thin, is light weight.
    FEELS GOOD!

I’ve done yoga off and on for years. I got this for travel, but now it’s my go-to mat. I’m considering getting a second. FYI regarding the photos: I’m 5’4″ female with small hands.

For travel, it roles up incredibly tight. Or, it does fold up easily, and it maintains its shape when you unfold it. It doesn’t maintain creases. Also, it’s incredibly light weight, so it’s easy to carry through an airport, or doesn’t add a lot if you pack it in your stowaway.

For everyday use, this mat is incredibly sticky. My other mat is also Manduka (PRO Lite), but this one is much stickier. I actually love being able to feel the ground through it, because of its thinness. I don’t have knee issues, but I could see where it would be problematic for people who do. When I use it at home, I use it in the basement, which has thin carpet, and that works well. I have tried to use in my bedroom, which has thicker carpet, and it doesn’t work so well. It sticks to my body more than the floor, so it shifts through my practice. So, I use my PRO Lite in the bedroom, and this one everywhere else. It’s great on hardwood too. I occasionally practice in my backyard, which is grass. I prefer it there too, because I feel I’m more stable because I’m better able to connect to the ground through it.

I purchased this mat for a two-week international trip to do yoga in my hotel room. I wanted something that was able to fit into a checked bag, wouldn’t bunch during use and provided a good grip. This mat was a perfect fit for a 25″ checked bag so that I was able to loosely lay it on top without having to make any creases and the weight was minimal. The mat quality was top notch and the rubber texture provided excellent grip. I don’t have particularly sensitive knees, so the 1.5mm cushion was sufficient on both carpet and harder floor surfaces.

At home I use a Lululemon Reversible Mat which provides 5mm of cushion and has an open-cell surface that absorbs moisture, whereas the Manduka is 1.5mm and has a closed-cell surface to prevent moisture from being absorbed. Even with the mat being closed-cell I never experienced any issues with slipping, though I can see it being problematic if you sweat a lot or if you’re doing hot yoga. The closed-cell construction is similar to the Manduka Pro and ProLite, so if you’ve used those mats you know what to expect and likely have a towel handy for hot yoga. I suspect most of the negative reviews about slipping are from people who are unfamiliar with Manduka mats.

The most direct competitor to this mat would be the Jade Voyager which sells at a similar price point and is also 1.5mm; however it’s a full 3 inches shorter (68″ vs 71″). Being on the taller side, I dislike practicing on shorter mats so the Manduka won out in that aspect. Additionally I was able to see a Voyager at a local retailer and didn’t feel like the build quality was as good as the Manduka. Other options include the Manduka Pro Travel Mat 2.5mm (~$75) and the Jade Travel Yoga Mat 3mm (~$70). These mats offer additional padding if you need a mat that’s softer on your knees; however they also weight more (2.4lbs and 3lbs respectively). Overall, I think the Manduka EKO Superlite finds the perfect balance for size, weight, and grip for anyone looking to bring their yoga practice with them on their travels.

  12. Rose Leng

I am very happy of the quality of the material. Even after folding the mat, it goes back flat very nicely.
